director grp photo2 1Welcome to Common Cause, a Lewes based, not for profit social enterprise, that promotes the local economy by supporting sustainable farming and facilitates wider access to local foods and direct access to involvment in growing food.
Common Cause was established in 1991 and has initiated or been involved in a wide variety of projects since its beginnings, some of which now continue independently:

Lewes Farmers' Market

barcombedetail WebThe market was established in 1998 and has grown to become one of the most vibrant and successful Farmers’ Markets in Sussex

Each month we have nearly 40 producers, offering a wide range of both staple and specialist local produce, plus seasonal guest producers to tie in with the growing year.

Accredited by FARMA, our stallholders are all involved in the production of their produce and are mostly based within a 30 mile radius of the town. We visit all our producers to ensure we understand the growing or production practise and that it meets the required criteria.

The market meets on the first Saturday of each month on Cliffe precinct from 9am - 1pm
